Ready for the Digital TV Conversion?

You have probably seen all the commercials and looking for the digital television conversion answers yourself after seeing so many ads about the analog to digital conversion. As you probably are aware of all the broadcasting in your local area throughout the U.S. will be sending their signals in 100% digital and cutting off all analog transmission beginning at midnight on February 19th, 2009. There are a few basic thing that you should be aware of that will determine whether or not this conversion will affect you.

1. If you currently are subscribed to a cable company or satellite provider like Dish Network or Direct TV, then you don't have to do anything as these subscription companies will take care of the conversion for you. This is part of your service since you pay a monthly fee for receiving your television signal.

2. If your current television has a digital tuner feature, which most will if it is a fairly new television, you won't have to do anything either.

3. However if you have an older television where you are currently getting your signal from an antenna (usually bunny rabbit ears), then you will need to purchase a digital converter for your TV for it to accept the digital signal. Keep in mind that if you have poor ana log reception, your digital tv reception will be worse.

If you are one of the 20 million American's that are in position number 3 above, you can get a $40 coupon good towards your purchase of a digital converter for your TV. You can use this coupon at any electronic store near you or even towards a purchase online.
